Role: Design Engineer

This project consisted of the construction of a 4-storey open plan office block complete with full air conditioning systems. The design of the air conditioning system was achieved via the use of a 4 pipe fan coil units located with bulkheads with fresh air ducted onto the back of the units.

 

Saffron Hill, Farringdon, London 

Role: Mechanical Design Engineer

The completion and undertaking of the mechanical design for this 6 storey CAT A open plan office development. The use of chilled beams by Frenger was incorporated into the design to provide a fully air conditioned space whilst providing a high level of co-ordination with all other services.  

 

BZW, Ebbgate house, London

Role: Site Based Design Co-ordination Engineer

The refurbishment of the existing 6 storey open plan office building in the centre of London require a high level of co-ordination and planning to meet a highly challenging construction programme. The building included an open quadrangle plus multi-cell offices utilized for management activities. The full air conditioning system was provided via a 4 pipe fan coil system linked to an external chiller.

 

Lehman Brothers, Bishopgate, London 

Role: Site Based Design Co-ordination Engineer

The refurbishment and fit out of the 2 storey open plan office for dealing desks was completed with a 4 pipe fan coil system providing a fully air conditioned space. Individual control was provided to the air conditioning system to enable each zone area to operate independently from each other.

Project Title: Bishop Ramsey School

Role: Project Design Engineer

Green 3 –storey secondary school for 600 pupils with green sedum roof. Full solar protection measures including brie soliel and solar glazing. Emphasis on Art and creative technologies. Incorporates GSHP for base heating load, solar and PV panels and rainwater with pupil’s energy learning display.

 

Project Title: Whitings Hill School

Role: Design Project Manager

Green single storey primary school for 300 pupils. Mostly wooden structure with BMS controlled natural ventilation and underfloor heating. Incorporates GSHP for base heating load, solar and PV panels, rainwater harvesting and wind turbine with pupil’s energy learning display.

 

Project Title: Peckham Academy

Role: Design Project Manager

2–storey new style Academy building for 700 pupils.  Full natural ventilation and underfloor heating.

Green 2 –storey secondary Sports based academyl for 600 pupils featuring special egg shaped assembly hall, full indoor and outdoor sports facilities with many football/hockey pitches with floodlighting. Full natural ventilation system to class rooms by motorised windows and roof terminals. Underfloor heating throughout. Separate water and drainage systems for science rooms.

Extension 2 –storey building for resource centre offices and meeting rooms. Low U-value building construction.  Full natural ventilation.

2-storey extension to existing girls school for learning resource centre and classrooms. Using ASHP’s and BMS controlled motorised windows for natural ventilation.

General Projects

Project Title: Basildon Sporting Village

Role: Project Design Manager

The largest sports project in the Thames Gateway - Europe’s biggest regeneration scheme and is identified as a training camp for the 2012 Olympic and Paralympics Games.  The scheme includes 50 M pool, sports halls, gymnasiums, fitness centres and all necessary changing/toilet facilities.  Full BMS driven natural vent, full mechanical ventilation, comfort cooling, CHP heating, and special pool ventilation.

 

Project Title: 2 Sisters Food group

Role: Design Project Manager

Extension to food processing plant requiring very high hygiene levels.  Uses steam for heating and cleaning processes. Extensive cooling and freezing facilities by local cooling plants.

 

Project Title: Dagenham Civic Centre

Role: Design Project Manager

Refurbishment of council offices and listed building council chambers. Fully air conditioned sympathetically with original 1930’s building fabrics and elements.  Fully comfort cooled by VRF with simultaneous heating/cooling with heat recovery.

 

Project Title: RAF Lakenheath

Role: Design Project Manager

Independent building for fighter squadron operations to full USAF and RAF specifications. Services designed for major damage limitation scenarios. Multiple plants and diverse service routes for 100% redundancy.

 

Project Title: Turner Art Gallery Margate

Role: Design Project Manager

Concept design for floating pier side contemporary art gallery. High specification air conditioned to cater for the visitors as well as the exhibits.  Utilises sea water as a cooling medium.

Role: Project design engineer

Relocation of Fleet St. entire newspaper printing house to Wapping.  Fully mechanically ventilated by low velocity systems as to not interfere with the newspaper printing processes.  Included process pipework for ink delivery and solvent cleaning systems and drainage.

Project Title: Newton Abbott PCT

Role: Design Project Manager

New regional PCT building including maternity, minor injuries and out patients.  Ultilising both natural ventilation and full mechanical systems. Heating by zoned radiant panels. Also had CHP and back up generator.

 

Project Title: Colchester Hospital

Role: Condition Surveyor

6 week long condition survey and report for the existing Colchester Hospital building services infrastructure and plant rooms.  Report used for refurbishment and replacement feasibility study.

 

Project Title: UOE Dentistry/PCT

Role: Design Project Manager

New multistory building for local doctors’ surgery, dentistry, college education and retail space. Services included dentistry chair systems, acoustic consultation rooms and X ray facilities.
